Google Zeitgeist 2008
Google captures the spirit of the times with their annual publication of the fastest rising search terms of 2008 . Topping the U.S. list were the presidential elections, the Beijing Olympics, and the financial crisis. They also produce separate lists for Showbiz, Sports, Politics, Trendsetters (such as going green), and Around the World. When looking at the lists, keep in mind that Fasting Rising lists rank phrases by their percent growth compared to 2007, while Most Popular phrases are simply ranked in order of popularity.
